Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) classes for students. Taught by a nationally certified ASL interpreter, no previous knowledge of ASL is required. Classes are 1 hour per week, with varying times. The class will introduce students to basic grammar, vocabulary, fingerspelling (ASL alphabet), numbers, and a taste of Deaf culture. Units will focus on vocabulary useful for everyday interactions, such as greetings, animals, family and home, colors, food, and simple conversational phrases, taught through fun and interactive hands-on experiences using games, small group activities, videos, and lectures.
